Shivani Gounder – Manager
At Synergy, ‘It’s personal’, and it really is.
We put our people first and invest our resources into developing and taking care of them because we recognise that when you get the people aspect right, everything else follows.
Personally, I’ve had some great career planning discussions with my senior management and established a development plan to progress my skills and my career within the organisation.
I’ve been given many development opportunities such as attending courses, international conferences and high profile events. Synergy also sponsors professional memberships and I’m currently a member of two industry bodies.
When I first started at Synergy, I attended an induction day and dinner – which my partner was also invited to attend – and this was a really personal introduction to Synergy which made me feel immediately welcomed.
Since I’ve been at the firm, we’ve had mid and end-of-year functions and quarterly catch ups with all staff. Individual teams also have quarterly activities and team bonding events, which are always something to look forward to.
This year I’ve set out to lead some of the firm’s initiatives that I’m passionate about. This includes the ‘healthy work initiative’ where we plan plenty of fun activities such as fun runs, boot camp sessions and yoga amongst other activities.
We are also currently running the Whole Life Challenge, which is an interactive way for our people to get together and challenge themselves for eight weeks, building healthy habits and winning prizes along the way. Things like this really add to the team culture.
Synergy is really fun and flexible workplace. I’m surrounded with a great team with lots of support. It’s a great feeling to be able to come to work every day feeling motivated and happy to be there.
