The Voice to Parliament referendum is one of the most important votes in our nation's history. The 1967 referendum was a unifying step forward. Together we have a chance to take the next step. Synergy Group has reaffirmed our commitment to reconciliation by formally supporting the establishment of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament.

Through this endorsement, we are demonstrating our strong support of the intention behind the Uluru Statement from the Heart by signing Reconciliation Australia's joint statement of support for the Voice the Parliament which promotes a 'YES' vote in the upcoming referendum. Reconciliation Australia has drafted the joint statement to showcase the commitment to the YES campaign through the support of organisations who have an established Reconciliation Action Plan. Synergy Group joins more than 170 organisations in signing the statement.

Through the formation of an advisory body, the Voice is focused on:

  • recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our Constitution and paying respect to 65,000 years of culture and tradition.
  • listening to advice from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people about matters that affect their lives, so governments make better decisions.
  • making practical progress in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, education, employment and housing, leading to better outcomes.

When you involve people, you make better decisions and the money you spend goes where it's needed most: to the people on the ground - Aunty Pat Anderson AO, Co-Chair Uluru Dialogues, Alyawarre woman

Our values are the heartbeat of our organisation and drive who we are, and how we engage with each other, our clients, and our community. Supporting an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament aligns with our RAP and speaks directly to our values by embracing diversity of thought and enabling pragmatic outcomes.

We believe that the YES outcome is central to Australia's reconciliation journey. Whilst Synergy Group's support of the Voice is strong, we respect the right for all individuals to form their own opinion. As such, we encourage you to read the RAP partner joint statement and educate yourselves prior to the referendum so you are making an informed decision when entering the polling booth.
